Is Kinecta Direct secure? Is it safe?
Effective May 1, 1999, access to your account via Kinecta Direct is blocked and your account will remain inaccessible until you complete our new Enrollment Process. It is not necessary for you to contact the credit union to block your account. Before you can access your account information, your request must be authenticated. This may result in a short delay however, feedback from some members has resulted in the implementation of this procedure. We want to assure you that Kinecta Direct was not any less secure than calling our Member Contact Center or our automated Voice Response System, however, we understand the power of the Internet and we want you to feel that your account information is secure.

Any information that you submit through Kinecta Direct is encrypted using 128-bit SSL technology. This is a strong form of encryption available for commercial use over the World Wide Web and is currently the standard for financial institutions nationwide. That means that even if the information you submit is somehow intercepted by a third party on its way to our servers, it is scrambled and very difficult to decode. For additional information on 128-bit SSL encryption, please visit Netscape's Web site.

We have also implemented state of the art firewall technology and secure password requirements to reduce the risk of attack from inside. We also have in place back office operational procedures that are not published or discussed here.

For additional security, your account is protected by a password of your choosing. No one can access your account without knowing your PASSWORD, and you can change your PASSWORD as often as you like. For added security, we will support an alpha/numeric password in a future release.

It is extremely important that you carefully review your credit union statements as well as any other written communications that you receive from the credit union. If, you feel that your account information has been compromise after your initial login, please contact Member Contact Center immediately and we will block your account from further access.

Please remember to keep your PASSWORD confidential! Credit Union employees do not have access to this information and they will NEVER ask you for this information. If someone claiming to be a credit union employee asks for that information, refuse to provide it and report the incident to the Member Contact Center immediately.

How can I tell if my browser supports 128-bit encryption?
If you use Netscape Navigator, you can find out what encryption level it supports by clicking on Help on the menu bar, then About Communicator (or Navigator). In the window that opens, look for a section on RSA Security. In the notes, if it says "This version supports U.S. security..." then your browser supports 128-bit encryption. Otherwise, it will indicate you have an export version, which only supports 40-bit encryption.

For Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, look under Help, then About Internet Explorer (or under the Apple icon in Mac) for a reference to 128-bit or 40-bit.

AOL users must have AOL 8.0 or above. Please follow the instructions available on AOL for upgrading to 8.0.

Why don't all the pages show the secure padlock when I use Internet Explorer?
The fact that the padlock symbol does not display is an existing problem with certain versions of Microsoft's Internet Explorer Browser. This is not unique to Kinecta Direct and is currently being addressed by Microsoft. Even though the padlock symbol does not appear, you can be assured that your entire session using Kinecta Direct is performed in a secure environment.
