Kinecta Federal Credit Union Hosts its 16th Annual Back-to-School Backpack Drive

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA (August 12, 2025) – To help students prepare for the 2025-2026 school year, Kinecta Federal Credit Union hosted its 16th Annual Back-to-School Backpack Drive. More than 800 students were provided with backpacks filled with school supplies at the event. Students and their families received backpacks, school supplies, a sack lunch and an ice cream treat from the Kinecta ice cream truck.
“The backpack drive has become a cherished tradition at Kinecta, and it’s made possible by the incredible generosity of our members, employees, partners and community,” said Latrice McGlothin, Executive Director of the Kinecta Community Foundation. “We’re thankful for every contribution that helps equip students with the tools they need to thrive.”
This year, families are expected to spend an average of $858.07 on back-to-school shopping, according to The National Retail Federation. This is a significant financial burden for families with limited resources. With recession fears, inflation and tight budgets, the importance of backpack drives is at a critical high.
