Last Updated: 07/01/2026
We are providing you, the parent or legal guardian (referred to as “Parent”) of a child under age 13 years (“Child”), this Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Direct Notice to Parent or Legal Guardian (“Direct Notice”) to notify Parents who set up accounts or services for a Child with Kinecta Federal Credit Union (“we”, “us”, “our”, or the “Credit Union”) of the Credit Union’s practices with regard to the online collection, use, or disclosure of Personal Information from Children.
We are required to provide this Direct Notice to Parents and obtain a Parent’s verifiable consent before we collect, use, or disclose a Child’s Personal Information online. We will not collect, use, or disclose any Personal Information online from the Child if the Parent does not provide such consent. Keeping your Child’s Personal Information safe is very important to us, and we take keeping that information safe in accordance with applicable rules seriously.
What kind of Personal Information do we collect?
“Personal Information” is information we collect online that is unique to your Child such as name, birthdate, address, and phone number, as well as geolocation information, persistent identifiers that can be used to identify your Child (such as a device identifier, IP address or cookie identifier), and biometric information; we may also collect transaction-related information such as an account number or credit or debit card information. Some of this information was collected from you the Parent when you set up services and accounts (“Services”) for your Child, while some of it may be collected from your Child later. There may be times when we ask your Child for this information. This could happen if your Child contacts us to help with their Services or if they need help logging into their Services. Other times your Child may provide this information to us online as they inquire about, apply for, or access a Service.
Why do we need information about your Child?
We collect your Child’s Personal Information to provide the Services that you or your Child have requested, to offer other Services that you or your Child may be interested in, and to do things like prove who your Child is, help them with their Services, speak with your Child, and help us detect things that don’t look right on your Child’s account.
We do not use or disclose persistent identifiers to contact your Child, for behavioral advertising or to build a profile about your Child based on activity over time or across different websites or online services. We may collect persistent identifiers to support our internal operations of our Services, such as maintaining and analyzing Service functionality, performing analytics and protecting against fraud, security risks, and errors.
We don’t use your Child’s Personal Information for any other reason.
Who do we share a Child’s Personal Information with?
If you provide your consent, we only share your Child’s Personal Information with people or companies that need to know such information for reasons specific to the Services provided, to offer you or your Child information about other Services we offer, and if there are rules that require us to share Personal Information with certain people or companies. We will not share Personal Information for any other reason.
How can a Parent get more information about our privacy practices?
Please visit our website at Kinecta - Childrens Privacy Policy for more information about our privacy practices and about your rights as a Parent, including your rights to request to review the Personal Information collected online about your Child and to request the deletion of such Personal Information.
How do we get a Parent’s consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of a Child’s Personal Information?
We are required to verify your identity to get your verifiable consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your Child’s Personal Information. We will request certain identifying information from you, and may request documentation to assist in the verification process, as well as using knowledge-based authentication tools, and you will be required to complete and submit to us our Minor Account Acknowledgement and Agreement, in person at a branch, by mail, or by submitting a secured message through the Parent’s online banking portal.
