Congratulations to Kinecta and Innovision Society’s Scholarship and Teaching Grant Winners

Scholarship and Teaching Grant award recipients stand for a group photo.
Los Angeles, CA (March 10, 2026) – Kinecta Federal Credit Union is excited to announce the recipients of the Kinecta Scholarship and the Innovision Society’s Teaching Grant programs.

“Each year, our scholarship and teaching grant programs highlight the talent, dedication, and spirit within our communities. The strong response we received this year was incredibly encouraging and demonstrates how deeply students and educators value opportunities to grow, learn, and lead. We are honored to support their journeys and celebrate their accomplishments. Congratulations to all our Kinecta and Innovision Society award recipients.” Latrice McGlothin, Community Executive Director.

Eight winners were chosen from 70 scholarship applications to receive a $2,000 scholarship in support of their education goals. As part of the application, students were asked how they hope to make a positive difference in the lives of others and what experiences have shaped that vision. Their essays highlighted themes such as empathy, perseverance, community service, and creating opportunities that bring people together.

The scholarship recipients will attend schools including the University of Southern California, University of California, Los Angeles, and Loyola Marymount University, with some still considering institutions such as Yale University and Stanford University. Their chosen fields of study range from aerospace and biomedical engineering to business management, molecular and cellular biology, communications, government, and physiological science.

Kinecta’s executive team also sponsors and funds the REDCAP Scholarship, named after Kinecta’s core values: Resourceful, Ethical, Dependable, Caring, Accountable, and Passionate. This year’s REDCAP recipient, a current UCLA student majoring in Physiological Science, wrote about the importance of resilience and their commitment to fostering hope and healing through a future career in physical therapy.

New this year, junior college professors were eligible to apply for the Innovision Society Teaching Grants, expanding participation beyond K–12 educators. As a result, 12 teachers and professors nationwide received grants, representing institutions such as El Camino College, Los Angeles Unified School District, Compton Unified School District, Paramount Unified School District, Santa Barbara Unified School District, Centinela Valley Union High School District, and Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY.

With school budgets continuing to shrink, many educators lack the resources needed to introduce creative and innovative programs that spark students’ passion for learning. This year’s grants will support a variety of projects, including:
  • Building Scientific Understanding Through Hands-On Learning for High School and Community College Chemistry Students
  • Designing the Future
  • Voices Unmuted: Headphones for Access, Engagement & Opportunity
  • College Success Starter Kit
  • Adapted Sports Curriculum
  • Dressed for Success
  • Expanding Equity Research: Community College Student Perspectives on Virtual Chemistry Laboratory Training
  • Student Literary Podcast
  • Credit Recovery & Graduation Motivation Program
  • Project-Based Learning for the Cell and Molecular Biology Classroom
  • Building Strong Writers, Strong Readers: Writing Stations for RSP Learning Centers
  • Inclusive Outdoor Learning Environment for Preschool Students with Special Needs
