Kinecta Mourns Passing of Former Board Chair Janet Sparrow

Kinecta Board Director Emeritus Janet Sparrow passed away after a long battle with a brain tumor on Saturday, June 5th. A pioneer for diversity in the credit union industry, Janet started as a volunteer for Kinecta Federal Credit Union when it was Hughes Aircraft Employees Federal Credit Union in 1988 and joined the Board of Directors on the Supervisory Committee in 1989. She retired in April 2014 from the position of Assistant Secretary. At that time she was also a member of the Board’s Strategy and Compensation committees, Chair of the Nominating committee and Vice Chair of the Board of Kinecta Alternative Financial Solutions, Inc. At one point, she briefly served as Board of Directors CEO.
Janet retired from the Raytheon Systems Company (formerly Hughes Aircraft Company), where she was a manager for the Sourcing/Material Planning Organization. She earned a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Los Angeles, a master’s degree from Loyola Marymount University, and a Juris Doctor degree from University of West Los Angeles School of Law.
